Privacy policy

Effective as of the current release. DevOps Navigator is built around a local-first privacy model: the application runs in your browser and has no backend to collect or store data.

1. What this application is

DevOps Navigator is a free, read-only, client-side dashboard for Azure DevOps Services. It is served as a static web application and connects directly from your browser to Microsoft's Azure DevOps REST APIs using the organization URL and personal access token you provide.

2. Data stored on your device

When you sign in, the following is stored in this browser's storage (session storage by default, local storage when you choose “keep me signed in”):

  • Your Azure DevOps organization URL
  • Your personal access token
  • Local preferences such as dashboard filters and notification settings

Depending on how the site is deployed, an operator-provided key may be used to obfuscate the stored values. This is best-effort protection against casual inspection of browser storage; it is not a guarantee against anyone who controls your device.

3. Data sent to Microsoft

Every API request goes directly from your browser to Microsoft's Azure DevOps endpoints (dev.azure.com and related Azure DevOps hosts). This includes the data the dashboard displays: project lists, work items, comments, source code and changesets, subject to the permissions of the token you provide. The token is sent as a credential on those requests and is never placed in URLs, query strings or logs.

4. What DevOps Navigator does not do

  • It does not operate servers, databases or analytics that receive your data.
  • It does not embed third-party trackers or advertising.
  • It does not create, edit or delete anything in your Azure DevOps organization.
  • It does not share your token or data with anyone, because it has no mechanism to do so.

5. Data deletion

Because everything is stored on your device, deletion is immediate: sign out from the dashboard, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. There is nothing stored elsewhere to delete.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The dashboard does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Browser storage is used only for the connection details and preferences described above. The site may be served through a content delivery network, which may keep standard, short-lived request logs for operation and security.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page. Because the application itself determines how your data is handled, check this page if you upgrade to a new version.
